Pens, Leafs and Classic rock loving Canadian. Just finished watching Grey’s Anatomy. Here’s my opiniony opinion.
Goddamit Owen deserves a swift kick to the nuts for pulling that shit. “You killed our baby!” Well sorry fucker but you stood right by there and supported her during the abortion. If you weren’t going to be able to accept the consequences of that, you should not have showed support to begin with. Throwing it back in her face is petty and completely unfair.
He has a right to be greatly upset about the abortion, but he supported her and now he has to shut up and accept that it is her body.
NEXT POINT: yes Cristina does tend to get her way a lot, she is one effing determined little fucker. But she made no effort to hide this when he made the effort to pursue her. He kissed her twice and drew her into his dark baggage and he knew what kind of woman he was going after. Cristina definitely learned what kind of a guy Owen was, and all his PTSD fallout, and she stayed and supported him. She did her very best to help him through all of it, even after he tried to choke her to death. Did she throw that back in his face? As far as I can recall, she admitted she didn’t feel safe in his arms later but she worked through that. Never did she let it blow out in an argument.
Fuck, they even had a huge argument in which Cristina told him about what happened with Burke and that she absolutely would not let that happen again. She would not lose herself to a man and forget her ambitions and a career. Expecting Cristina, a driven ambitious woman who Owen knew was dead set on a hugely successful career from the beginning, to give up all that to have his baby, even though she knew she would resent that baby, is doing exactly that; it would be destroying her. (whatever insert all the well-said stuff that Meredith said in the episode with the abortion).
My point is, Owen was out of line. They’re both in a shitty situation, but if this was eventually going to break them up it should have been when she had the abortion initially. That false support he gave her only prolonged the inevitable and made it that much more painful.
“You killed our baby!”. fuck off. a hundred more tactful ways to spit that out Owen.
Abortion gets me fired up, sorry folks.
